Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is directed at correcting faulty
cognition (thought processing), by replacing it with healthy and
realistic thinking. It concentrates more on the present thinking
and emotions than the past contributing factors. Behavioral exercises
are used to instill rational thoughts. An individual’s attitude
and behavior are influenced by the way the individual cognitively
structures the environment. These techniques were designed to
identify, reality test, and correct distorted conceptualizations
and dysfunctional beliefs.
